GA-3 Disaster Medical Assistance Team

"Best Care Anywhere"

Welcome

The Georgia 3 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (GA-3 DMAT) is part of a larger program called the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS). This system is part of the Federal Response Plan to natural and man made disasters with the task of health and medical care in austere environments. NDMS also has memorandums of understanding with several federal agencies to provide medical support to certain special events.

Members are of many talents and much training, to include providers, mid-levels, nurses, paramedics and EMTs.  Also, many of them are multi-skilled in other concentrations, such as logistics and communications.  These members take time to answer the call away from family and home to serve the United States of America in the worst of times.

NATURAL DISASTERS

Hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, sandstorms-- if there is a medical system need, we respond to it.

 MAN-MADE DISASTERS

Not all disasters are natural-- sadly, when others choose to cause harm, we respond to provide care!

SPECIAL EVENTS

Where there are more people, there is more likely to be need for medical care.  We respond to augment existing emergency medical infrastructure.

Austere Environments

Not all responses are equal-- sometimes the need is augmentation of overwhelmed existing services.  Other times, the services that once existed are decimated, along with many other homes, businesses and resources.

Mandatory Training

The mandatory training requirements for 2023 have been posted.  See the Training Resources page or your emails for details.
